Niykee continues to write songs despite having been caught up in the latest chaos. Niykee was selected for this year's YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and Snoop was on stage with her. Being a magnet for producers, Niykee is constantly looking through beats delivered to her. She has found that the majority beats spark fresh music ideas. "I'll be able to discern within 5 minutes if this is a quality beat. Once I have an idea in my head I'll begin writing straight away." While I play the guitar outside on my porch, words start to flow. A majority of the time it is accomplished in about 30 minutes. In her development as a lyricist Niykee notes that the pain of her history is an unending source of unimaginable ideas. Even when I'm not writing literally about things that have occurred to me, the trauma of my childhood and losing my sister ends in being integrated into my lyrics, she says. This shapes my music and provides it with a deeper meaning, which I find very important. I want to be able listen to my music in the next 20 years and be proud of what I have to say.
